<del datetime="2009-12-05T22:01:07+00:00">You're entitled to your opinions.

LA's attendance has been declining since the lockout. The Gretzky era there was its best. The Kings filed bankruptcy circa '95, which pretty much forced them to trade Gretzky. Yes, he was past his prime then... but he WAS the star attraction. Again, mis-management, much as in their early years. LA-metro is a top tier market, agreed. Anaheim is in that metro area too, and they've done better (good management) than LA.

There are other markets that also have many corporate entities <!--more-->within the metro areas. Let's face it, if the Lakers weren't there, do you really think the boxes would be such a hot/in-demand item? Clippers and the Kings... I don't think so. Corporations are buying the arena boxes for the Lakers, they have to buy the box for the year and thus have access to any event. At the Staples Center there are 160 luxury boxes going between roughly $200k-300k (see <a href="http://hockey.ballparks.com/NHL/LosAngelesKings/newindex.htm" rel="nofollow">here</a>). Take the middle, $250k x 160 = $40M. $40M to be able to see each game of the 115 regular season games; Kings 41 home games, Lakers and Clippers combined have 82 home games but they play each other 16 times, so 74 b-ball games there. Those 160 boxes net about $348k per game. The 2006-7 season, for average [hockey] attendance of 16,860 fans, say 1600 are in the boxes, the 15,260 others are paying an average of $46 for a ticket = $702k. The corporations that bought the boxes will keep a team viable if the attendance drops below 7500.

I was on the fence between moving Nashville or LA. As I stated, 42 years and they've really haven't done much but continually make bad draft decisions (giving up early picks)... That was the driving force. What they need is some team building. Will they move them? No. Not unless they go into bankruptcy. Perhaps they've finally done it this year, as they seem off to a pretty good start.</del>

It's a <strong>wish</strong> ya dumbfuck douchebag asshat... think the average person of intelligence could have inferred that from the title. Being that the NHL has the probable [and unfortunate] position of receiving the least amout of ad revenue out of the the 4 major leagues, I sincerely doubt that the corporations are buying the boxes just for Kings games. Since Gretzky isn't there anymore, the corporations probably give those box tickets for hockey games to the janitors they're going to be laying off next month to make themselves feel better or to wipe their ass.

Second largest sports market... so why is it that LA can't get/keep a football team? If you made a list like mine for football you'd probably move Greenbay and/or Buffalo to LA wouldn't you just cuz they're small markets? LA lost the Chargers to San Diego, the Raiders went back to Oakland and the Rams lost to St. Louis... Most popular, visible and richest league in the U.S. and yet no team for LA.

This has to be the dumbest map ive ever seen.

Moving Los Angeles? seriously? corporations are what keeps teams viable by purchasing luxury boxes, and the LA Kings arent going to move just because you want them to over some ignorant gripe over NHL expansion into "warm" cities. You really think theyd move the second largest sports market in the world?

Some peoples intelligence in this world is truly scary.
